Outdoor Workshops: The emphasis is on composition, aerial perspective and outdoor light. Students are shown under-painting procedures that helps one quickly capture the essence of the subject. Mr. Hoffman teaches drawing skills and a 4-stage all prima painting process.
Indoor Workshops: Proportioning, linear and aerial perspective, painting and drawing skills, principles of composition, and basic color concepts are taught. The novice is instructed in the use of materials and equipment and may start with a simple painting setup. The more advanced students are instructed according to individual needs.
All students are taught to look for warm and cool colors to create the feeling of light, energy and depth. Students will also be shown how to use values to create strength and volume. Mr. Hoffman teaches through demonstration, group critiques and personal attention.
